6 Reasons We Use AWeber for our Blog Newsletters

Blog Tools, Online Business

aweber-blog-newsletterThere are lots of reasons to publish a blog newsletter.

And regardless of the age of your blog, the best time to start a newsletter is today.

But then the question arises:

What email tool should I use?

There are no shortage of options: MailChimp, Constant Contact and Vertical Response.

In my opinion, the answer is simple: AWeber.

Note: I am both a customer (since October 2009) and an affiliate of Aweber. The links to Aweber in this post are affiliate links and I will make a commission if you decide to use them. This won't cost you anything.

Why We Use AWeber for Our Blog Newsletters

aweber-logoMy first email list was with Constant Contact (around eight years ago). When we first started blogging in Ecuador, we continued to use them. Very quickly I realized that they had significant limitations.

Here are the 6 reasons we switched to AWeber almost five years ago:

  1. Unlimited Lists: At the time I wanted to run a second email list, and Constant Contact told me that I would have to signup for a new account – doubling my expense. As I researched email providers, I found that most did the same thing. AWeber doesn't limit the amount of lists you can have within your account. This is important for almost every blog or business owner.
  2. Unlimited Emails: Another pet peeve of mine is that some email marketing tools limit you on the volume of emails you can send. As if they were actual print letters. Some create limits on both emails and the number of subscribers. AWeber allows you to send an unlimited number of emails to your subscribers. The price is the same regardless if you send a monthly or a daily email blast.
  3. Auto Responders: This is an important tool. These automatic follow up messages help me serve relevant content to subscribers. I use these to encourage readers to take specific actions. Things like directing them to specific sets of content or joining us on a specific social channel. They can also be used as a sales funnel to encourage action to purchase. The auto responder tool can be used to (automatically) deliver e-books and reports.
  4. RSS To Blog: Allow AWeber auto-generate the newsletter using your RSS feed.
  5. $1 Trial Offer: The $1 offer is what convinced me to try five years ago – and they still offer the same deal.
  6. Deliverability: This is probably one of the biggest factors in email marketing. If it doesn't get read, it is completely useless. AWeber has a tough anti-spam policy and they pre-check email content for spam-like content to ensure that it will get delivered. We saw increased open rates with AWeber.

Other AWeber Features Include

  • Turn One-Time Visitors Into Active Subscribers with AWeber Email MarketingIntegrations with Facebook, WordPress, Paypal, Clickbank and more. For example, we have added the AWeber app to our Facebook page – allowing visitors to subscribe to our blog without even visiting it. AWeber integrates with more than 40 applications.
  • Subscriber Segmentation: Easily create segments based on a specific action. Things such as: who opened (or didn't open) a specific message, who clicked a certain link in a specific message, or what pages they visited on your site. These segments allow you to custom market to each of these subscribers according to their likes and interests.
  • A/B Testing: AWeber offers the ability to split test two signup forms at once – to see which one performs better. And each of the signup boxes you use on your site can be labeled so you can see which location generates more subscribers.
  • HTML Email Template: More than 600 templates that can be easily customized for your site.
  • Easy Subscription Forms: These are like the ads for your newsletter. If they are attractive and present enough value, you'll get a new subscriber. The forms are easy to create and customize.

So there you have it – these the six reasons I chose AWeber – and continue to use them after almost five years.

Why not give AWeber a try? You can signup for just $1.

Now it's your turn

What do you think of AWeber? What tool do you use – and why?

    Hi Bryan
I think times has proved that cost and service wise both Aweber is the best email subscription service and one of the oldest one.
After it so many other similar products were introduced in the market but many of them still could not have created that much brand image as the Aweber has already have.
The most important reason of using Aweber is its first month simply $1 fee to completely test the quality of its service and then go for regular subscription with normal rates.
You pointed well in this awesome post all the main reason to use Aweber newsletter for increasing level of engagements with email subscribers. Thanks for sharing this wonderful post.

I currently use Mailchimp. This is about the 5th article I’ve seen in the last week explain how good aweber is. I’m seriously considering making the switch once I reach 2000 subscribers.

Aweber is a real winner Bryan, followed by GetResponse. Smart post, thanks!

I find that Mailchimp.com is a better deal for people getting started. Accounts start at 0-2,000 subscribers and 12,000 e-mails for free. I use it for my weekly e-mails and it works without a problem. It also allows you to post a copy of the e-mail you send out on the website in the event people cannot read it in their browser. Why spend money if you don’t need to?

I’m glad you love MailChimp. Is price your only criteria? If you read the post, you’ll have noticed that AWeber offers some specific and unique features.

I remember you publishing a similar comment almost a year ago. And this was my response. If you don’t need any of the other features, then you should stay where you are. But if you want to grow your list and increase site traffic then AWeber is a great option.
