My History in Business

At 15, I took a commission sales job selling satellite dishes. I went door-to-door and did phone sales. When other kids rushed home after school to play video games or watch tv, I was cold-calling leads in the phone book (starting at “A”) and setting up sales meetings.

At 17, I started my first ad agency as a project in my high school entrepreneurship class. This grew into a sizable company, which I sold just before our wedding. Later on, Dena and I started a second agency that generated millions of dollars in revenue. We sold this company the month before we moved to Ecuador in July 2009.

Dena and I moved abroad with no work and little money.

Within the first few months we discovered that blogging was the best way for us to earn a living. We wanted our daughter to experience different cultures and a different part of the world. She quickly become fluent in Spanish – she even “sings Spanish” as Cuecanas (women from Cuenca, Ecuador) are famous for.

Since returning to Canada in April 2015, we have continued to blog. We started Click Like This in September 2015. We also started Storyteller Media, a content marketing company specializing in travel brands.

What Blogging Has Done For Us

Blogging has changed our lives. I know – that sounds a little over the top.

Bryan and Dena Haines in Miami, FloridaBut it's true.

Our previous businesses required a specific location, with inventory, shipments, and staff. Our business lived (and died) with deadlines.

Blogging almost eliminates all of these things. Of course, we still have deadlines. But most off them are ones we work towards. And because there are no physical products, snow storms and strikes don't scare us.

And here's the best part: when we go on vacation, our business continues to earn revenue. Setup correctly, blogging can create true passive income.

On top of all of this, we work less than we did with any of our previous businesses. We have more time as a family and personal pursuits.

What Can You Expect on BryanHaines.com?

I'll share what I've learned about doing business online.

We began content marketing in 2009. Since then, we've seen what works and what doesn't through our own failures and successes. Unlike many “make money online” blogs, this site focuses on using an online business to reach significant life goals.

BryanHaines.com is about earning online for everyone who wants to be location independent. It provides the resources and motivation required to start and grow a successful online business. Everything shared is based on real life experiences.

To get things started, you need a blog. Not just any blog: you need a blog that will become an authority in its niche and that will make you a living online so you can live wherever in the world you want to. This is exactly what you will learn to create.

Thank you for joining us on this journey. I hope you'll share your thoughts and comments on individual blog posts. Don't forget to sign-up for our free newsletter.
